Regarding the poor condition of the public rights of way network across the East Sussex South Downs, they should be brought back to the condition they reached some 30 years ago when they were managed by the Sussex Downs Conservation Board! The PRoW network had then never been before, or since, been so well maintained.…

Regarding the poor condition of the public rights of way network across the East Sussex South Downs, they should be brought back to the condition they reached some 30 years ago when they were managed by the Sussex Downs Conservation Board! The PRoW network had then never been before, or since, been so well maintained.

Matters began to deteriorate during the 2000s, firstly from government cuts then the then new South Downs NP Authority declining to continue this much valued work, handing it back to a cash-strapped East Sussex County Council. (They also declined to take over the E. Sussex Dutch Elm Disease programme, signing the death warrant on some 50K trees).
